K&C Presents at ISIEMS

Mark Weaver, Senior Engineer from K&C presented one of his projects at the 17th annual International Symposium on the Interaction of the Effects of Munitions with Structures (ISIEMS) Conference, which took place last week in Bad Neuenahr, Germany.

Mr. Weaver presented work testing and evaluating the Blast Resistance of Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) Construction. K&C partnered with Woodworks, the University of Maine, and the Air Force Civil Engineer Center to develop and execute a two-phase testing program aimed at demonstrating the blast-resistance of CLT, a massive timber product recently introduced into the North American market. “Cross-laminated timber is a material that promises to make inroads into the North American construction market over the next five years.  Being able to plan blast load testing efforts for this interesting material in close cooperation with the Air Force and WoodWorks has been an exciting and rewarding experience” says Mr. Weaver.

ISIEMS aims at delivering relevant topics with respect to structures and materials, and the effect of explosive loading. Experts in the industry from around the world participate and contribute to the symposium. K&C was proud to both participate and contribute to the symposium this year and will return next year.
