Integrated Consulting Services Related to Blast and Impact Problems

Anti-ram bus stop
Our company provides a full range of capabilities in resolving a client's blast and impact problems, including risk assessment/management, designs to mitigate risks during blast and impact events, simple and complex analysis methods, lab testing, and blast/impact tests in the field.
Our basic core area of expertise is the understanding of structures of all types, and their response to diverse internal and external forces, including gravity and other static forces, and those of extreme events such as blast, shock, and high velocity impact.

Blast effects testing
This core technology--in conjunction with our specialized capabilities and experience in blast/impact effects engineering--allows us to provide fully integrated services state-of-the-art engineering capability in the areas of structural analysis and design, structural risk assessment and mitigation, and blast/impact engineering services to our clients. K&C is able to participate in all phases of a project, leading from project inception up to the installation and construction of the devices we design.
Advanced Degrees and Licenses in Several States
Most K&C engineers have advanced degrees and professional licenses in structural, civil and geotechnical engineering. Several engineers are licensed in multiple states.
Offices
Column retrofit for enhanced blast resistance
Our main office is located next to the Burbank Airport, approximately ten miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles, California. We also have offices in the Washington, D.C. area and in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
We have worked in a variety of countries (primarily for the Departments of Defense and State) and are versed in foreign design procedures, guidelines, and practices. Our technical staff speaks a variety of languages (Spanish, French, Korean, Cantonese and Mandarin) and will be happy to work in these languages if it is more convenient for the client.
We maintain a highly networked computer system, focused on running calculation-intense analysis problems. We specialize in using high-fidelity physics based finite element models of structural and mechanical systems and components to predict the effects of blast/impact loads.
K&C writes much of its own design/analysis software, which is especially focused on predicting responses for blast/impact effects.
We have the capabilities to provide complete design packages for our clients and are well-versed in working with various government approval authorities. We have the latest version of AutoCAD, but can also provide drawings in earlier versions for compatibility.

Window retrofit with a cable catcher system
We are experienced users of Photoshop and video editing tools, and generate renderings and video clips with 3DStudioViz, which can produce photo-quality renderings of our projects.
Our publications employ a large amount of graphics to ensure ready visualization of the issues involved.
