15 Aug Development of Ballistic Resistant Stud Walls

Front Side of 1/4 inch Steel Plate
This project was an Anti-terrorism Force Protection (AT/FP) project carried out for a government agency, in this case, involving forced entry/ballistic resistant (FE/BR) protection testing.
Project Description: The primary objective for this project was to develop a low cost, easily installed wall system using conventional materials that provided ballistic protection. Results from a standard ballistic test are shown below. All bullets penetrated the front face ¼‑inch steel plate while none penetrated the gyp board. The front face ¼‑inch steel plate could be replaced with more conventional materials such as plywood if a lesser FE/BR standard may be used.
